Pastor Lovelace preached the 'Soldier's Church Service' at The Skirmishes for Lexington, SC Reenactment on Sunday, September 27, 2015.
This event (9/25-27/2015) commemorated the Wednesday, February 15, 1865 skirmishes fought at the Red Bank Creek and Two League Cross Roads near Lexington, SC. Confederate Cavalry forces under Gen. Joseph Wheeler and local Milita attempted to halt the march of Sherman's Union forces under the command of Maj. Gen. Henry W. Slocum as they pressed towards Columbia, the State Capital. Efforts that sadly ultimately failed as Federal forces entered and occupied Columbia two days later.
During this service, Pastor Lovelace portrayed a 'Civil-War Era' soldier's church service during February 1865.
