This sermon/lesson was delivered at the Princess Chapel Church in Ashland, KY by Pastor Douglas Salyer, the Exposition from Romans as part of the Expository Bible Study, verse by verse through the Book of Romans. This lesson, Part-35, brings Romans 7 to an close.
The Apostle Paul shows us through his own self-analysis that there is no victory in the Law.
1. The old man does the opposite of what the new man wants to do. (Romans 7:19).
2. The old man defeats the new man when one tries to keep the Law. (Romans 7:20-21).
3. The new man can never win under the Law. (Romans 7:22-23).
We are defeated already, held captive to the law of sin. 'O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?'
Victory only comes through and in Christ.
- When you begin to worry or wander of you love for Christ; STOP and focus on His great love for you.
- When you begin to worry about your goodness in the Law; STOP and focus upon His Righteousness.
- When you begin to worry about your failures that are seen throught the Law; STOP and focus on how He never failed, and what He has accomplished for you.
