So many people are so confused about this issue of the unpardonable sin. We will continue to clarify this today. If a person feels they have committed the unpardonable sin, it destroys their spiritual life. They just give up and drift off to where they were before. We will go over what it is, who can commit it, and all the details about it to really understand what it is about. This is in the entire chapter of Matthew 12. It was committed only once, blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, by the Jewish Pharisees in 70 A.D.
Review Matt 12:24: 24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. The Pharisees blasphemy the Holy Spirit by saying Jesus Christ cast out demons by the power of another demon, Beelzebub, and not by the Holy Spirit. These prominent people had to discount His miracles and called Him the incarnate of Satan so that from then on, the religious leaders could say Jesus Christ is performing miracles, but by Satan, not by the Holy Spirit. Matthew 12:30-50: 30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathers not with me scatters abroad. You are either for Me or against Me. If you make no decision, you are against Me. 31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. 32 And whosoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaks against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
