The family that descended from Cain served to spread abroad in the world the perversions that spring from total depravity. That family was joined by many of the other descendants of Adam and Eve in filling the world with the devastating results of sin. But in the birth of Seth, there was the rekindlilng of hope in the promise of God. Abel had been murdered and Cain had been banished, but God gave Adam and Eve the son they called Seth, the one appointed as a replacement for Abel. Seth became the progenitor for a line of people who would be faithful to the word preached by Adam, and they would be people distinguished by their orthodox doctrine and their true worship. In the midst of a world sliding farther and farther into degeneracy, the family of Seth maintained the truth of that which the Creator had spoken, and they took their stand for the true worship of the true God.
