Many people consider the second chapter of Genesis to be a completely separate creation account, even contradictory to the account in chapter 1. In reality, this is a complementary account, focused on the details of the events of the sixth day. And any of the details in the beginning of ch. 2 that people see as contradictions are fairly easily answered light of this.
While the second chapter is indeed all one account, one narrative, there are a couple valuable items to consider between vv. 4-17, before God created Eve and before He instituted marriage.
First, is there a creation covenant in the garden? If so, what does it imply? There does indeed appear to be plenty of evidence for a covenant between God and creation, but the term "covenant of works" is not necessarily the most helpful way of thinking of it.
Second, is work itself a curse, or a gift from God? God has actually created men to work. And this leads to many implications to consider, especially in light of the current events in Western society.
