Scripture: Acts 14:5-20 Text: same Sermon: GOSPEL SUCCESS AND OPPOSITION IN LYCOANIA PT. 2 Points: I. The Miraculous Sign II. Idolatrous Response III. The Vicious Persecution
The teaching and preaching ministry of the Apostle Paul and Barnabas continues... and almost comes to a terrible end.
The events recorded here take place in Lystra. After preaching Paul sees a man lame from his mother's womb. He speaks to him and tells him to rise and walk. An incredible demonstration of the power of God to heal. As a result the priests of Zeus and the people wanted to sacrifice to them and worship them.
Derbe. Opposition resulted in Paul and Barnabas' departure from Lystra. As their ministry continues, they go to Derbe and after the prompting of the Jewish leaders, Paul was stoned.
Thankfully, after he was dragged out of the city and dumped, Paul got up and walked back into the city and ministered the gospel.
