Jesus frequently makes claims that no man, even the greatest of Old Testament saints like Abraham, David, or Moses could have made. He claims, for instance, the authority to forgive sins which only God can do, he also spoke of Himself using the same name - 'I AM' that God used in identifying Himself to Moses. The Jews knew precisely what He was saying so they picked up rocks to stone Him for blasphemy (John 8:59).
Now if Jesus had only been a man, to speak as LORD this way and to claim divine authority would indeed have been blasphemous but the fact is that it wasn't blasphemy precisely because JESUS IS LORD, BECAUSE JESUS IS GOD!
