God reproves men in three ways: by his Word, by his Providential dealings, and by his Spirit. God is gentle and patient with his reproofs toward all men. He is longsuffering beyond what we can imagine. However, when his reproofs are met with stubbornness and pride and a hardened heart there comes a point where God must deal with them in judgement. Sudden destruction is not another reproof, it is the end for that person who has left God with no other option but to put an end to them.
