Pastor Stoos continues the series on the Gospel of Luke where chapter seven brings the account of the faithful Centurion. Jesus was found to marvel only twice in His earthly ministry, once here at the faith of the Centurion and again at the unbelief of those in His own town. Since we want Jesus to marvel at our faith rather than our unbelief it is important that we learn the lesson to be learned here. Pastor Stoos compares this account with that of Matthew, showing that there is no difficulty putting the two together even though skeptics often say this is one of the major contradictions in the Scriptures. Both accounts focus on the faith of the Centurion and that is the focus of this sermon as well, showing how we need to have the same simple, powerful faith. He also shows how this great faith is demonstrated by the baptism of our covenant children.
