In this perhaps the national anthem of the kingdom of David, the Body of Christ, that is, His Elect people, are seen in this Psalm praying for their King, as David's people (David a type of Christ) prays and sings for David, their king. This is the lead up to Psalm 22 and the crucifixion of Christ beginning at Gethsemane in Psalm 20.
