What God is doing – sending or allowing the trials
What God wants to do – He wants to use the trial to develop maturity in us
What we need to do – three things to do in order to receive the full benefit
Count it
Know it
Let it
To count it all joy means to put it in the plus side of the ledger, the test will provide positive results. It is an asset, not a liability. Focus on what the result will be; it is worth it to not give up. Remember that this isn’t just about a mindset, but when something takes you by surprise, you have to be ready to “count it” in the joy column, but we want to put it in the joke or the junk column.
The trials sent by God will prove our faith (vs.2) and they will improve our faith (vs.3). If you keep with it, you will be matured towards perfection in your faith (vs.4).

An attention getter! James is by far my favorite book in the New Testament. And even though I have studied chapter 1 myself, I have never known the depth or understanding I have now. Glory to God.
