The airwaves of full of exhibitions of spiritual ignorance, and they come from many different directions.
Atheist TV talk show host Bill Maher says that "Christians suffer from a neurological disorder that stops people from thinking" and "the church is a crutch for weak-minded people who need strength in numbers."
Elsewhere in the vast TV wasteland, charlatan preachers promote a false gospel of "health and wealth" or "name it and claim it", and tell people the lie that "you have the power to speak good things into existence".
These falsehoods scream out an abysmal ignorance of Christ and His Word. The problem is, many Christians are in danger of being intimidated by the one kind, or taken in by the other.
In Colossians 2:2, Paul gives the universal antidote: "the riches of the full assurance of understanding" of Christ and His Word. Job, David, Paul and others testify to this reality in the pages of Scripture. Christians today need to pursue this understanding. You need to develop and exercise spiritual intelligence. Scripture tells you how.
That's our focus this week as we continue our series, Christ Above All: Studies in Colossians.
