Paul writes in response to attacks of the "super-apostles" to defend his ministry.
The teaching falls in three parts:
1. Paul's boasting (vv. 12-14).
He boasts not in himself but in the grace of God (see Jeremiah 9:23-24).
2. Paul's integrity (vv. 15-20).
Paul's integrity is based in the faithfulness of God.
3. Paul's assurance (vv. 21-24).
God has done four things for the Corinthians:
a. Established them. b. Anointed them. c. Sealed them. d. Given the Holy Spirit as guarantee.
Finally, in v. 24, Paul demonstrates his servant leadership, not lording it over the Corinthians, but as a fellow worker, exhorting them to stand in the faith.
