The previous message in Colossians 2:1-3 illuminated Paul's love for the church. We see in the continuation of Paul's letter to the Colossian church his great concern for those churches in the Lycus river valley and his struggle to bring them to spiritual maturity. He wanted them to know that even though they had not personally seen his face, his love for the church was not selective and that he loved the whole church and not just those known by him. And, his desire that they may be united in faith and love, a holy love that knits the hearts of Christians to one another with our comfort being lifted through faith and love in Christ.
Think about it, as Christians we have a connection with each other through our faith in and our love of Christ. This is something we have in common with any Christian on this Earth from any cultural background and country. They are our brothers and sisters. Here at PVBF we are a church family, we are brothers and sisters in Christ and this is a bond that I believe can be stronger than those of familial origin.
