The peace that Paul speaks of comes from the long war between Satan and God that corrupted the creation and all in it. At some time in eternity past, God elevated Halal, or Lucifer, to be the most anointed cherub. As the anointed cherub that "covers" he had the position of being a canopy or covering over the throne of God. While other cherubs were carrying the throne, Lucifer was over it (Ezekiel 28:14). He was the most prominent of all of the cherubs, but sin was found in him: Clearly Lucifer fell due to pride, and after his fall his name was changed to Satan (Isaiah 14:12). The result of the Fall was that death entered the pristine earth through Adam and Eve's sin, and more specifically, the Garden of Eden where Jehovah God has placed Adam and his wife. The long war against God continued into the physical domain of the creation. Even though the earth became corrupt as sin entered and caused death to reign over the creation, the more serious result was spiritual death (Romans 5:14, 17, 21).
