Scripture: Acts 11:1-26 Text: Acts 11:19-26 Sermon: THE EXPANDING REACH OF THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH Points: I. The Catalyst for Expansion II. The Details of this Expansion III. The Naming of this Expansion IV. The Epilogue of this Expansion
We finally returned to our study of the Book of Acts. We pick up our study after Peter defends baptizing Gentile believers after they had received and been received by the Holy Spirit.
He said, who can forbid water that these should not be baptized? When the matter was heard by the other Apostles and Elders in Jerusalem, they responded with silence and glorified God that He had granted salvation to the Gentiles. "
Here's Acts 11:18
"When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, "Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life."
This is a big deal. This foreshadows the coming world-wide spread of the Gospel and the Christian Church that would witness to the fulfillment of the promise made to Abraham in Genesis 12... that throuigh His Seed, "all the families of the earth would be blessed."
