This morning, we will focus on his entrance into Jerusalem during the last week of his life before His death. The Holy One of God would not come riding in on a white war horse. Instead, he would enter the city on a donkey. What did al of this mean? The Son of David, heir to his everlasting throne, had arrived in the city of the great King, Jerusalem. This is the capital city on the week of Passover. The city would have been buzzing with visitors. Would there be any room for Him in the center of Judaism? Bethlehem didn’t have any room for him when He was born? Would there be any room for Him now? He had been brought to the Temple at 8 days old. Simeon and Anna rejoiced to the see the redemption of Israel. Some of these anticipations were on the rise in the presenc and work of Jesus of Nazareth? Do you remember His first time in the temple at the age of 12? He was confounding the doctors and lawyers with his wisdom as a young boy. Would they be mesmerized by Him again as He is about His Father’s business or would they have another plan for Him? All of this is packed into the final week of Jesus’ ministry before His death. Mark devotes almost 38% (6 ch. of 16) of his gospel narrative to this last week of Jesus life. All the events of this week are significant, and we are going to dive into them today. The message will be entitled, “The King of Peace“. We will consider the following 1)The King of Peace Prepares to Enter the City of Peace 2) is Holy and Humble 3)Enters and Prepares to Settle the Conflict of the Ages.
