God in omnipotent power moves upon the soul and literally "takes over" in the case of everyone He saves. There is no salvation for any sinner until the Holy Spirit invades that sinner's life and will, unshackles the sinner from the powers of his own sin and from the Devil, proclaims the acceptable year of our Lord, and takes up His abode as LORD in that sinner's heart. "Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power" (Psalm 110:3). "In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves (be awakened and delivered) out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will" (2 Timothy 2:25-26). Salvation is on the basis of Christ's atoning work at the Cross, but a captive sinner needs also to be saved by the POWER of God. Praise God for His almighty, effectual work in the hearts of His people!
