Having reminded the Corinthians of the gospel they received, Paul demonstrates just how crucial Christ's resurrection is: if he has not been raised, our faith is futile and we are still in our sins. But Christ has indeed been raised and so, as Grant declared to us last week, our perimeters for life and hope are forever changed. Life is far more than just today. Eternity and glory await us in Christ.
In our passage this week we will hear of the nature of our resurrection bodies. Our hope and future are not some ethereal reality without substance. They are physical, substantial and glorious. Why is it so important that we have a body in the resurrection? Because without it we cannot receive our inheritance - the kingdom of God!
What does this mean for us in this life? We now live in the victory we have through Christ, where death has lost its sting. And so, we are to be steadfast and abounding in the Lord's work, knowing that our labours are not in vain, just as Christ's are not. They are filled with the hope of glory.
