As we continue the transition from justification to sanctification by a consideration of the nature of faith which is the instrumental means of justification, our attention is now upon James 2:18-20. Here James instructs that genuine faith is not the mere mouth profession and academic acceptance of an orthodox creed. The faith which justifies leads to a holy life evidenced by good works. In this message the objection to James' insistence on a vital working faith, verse 18a, shall be identified. The objection is answered in verse 18b. And in verses 19-20 the uselessness of bare assent to doctrine is set forth. Genuine faith which embraces truth is always manifest by self expending good works.
