): To grow in our relationship with God we must understand fully the extent of our salvation. Many go through life motivated by fear and guilt, seeking to finish in the flesh what was begun in the Spirit. They seek to obey God in order to atone for their short comings rather than out of love. Once the Christian understand the true nature of their salvation, that Jesus Christ was indeed a true substitute for the anger and wrath of God. That all the bad things due to us because of our sin were done to Christ, then he no longer asks himself, “What bad thing will God do to me because of my sin?”. Rather he views all of God's discipline as good not bad, knowing God deals with him as a beloved son, as an athlete, not as a stranger, as a criminal. The understanding of this truth is essential in our walk with God, our ministry to our family and our ministry in the church.
