Everyday life… You know what I am talking about—alarm clock goes off, coffee, morning jog, newspaper, drive to work, duties for the day, lunch, more work, drive home, time with spouse and children, dinner, dishes, a few minutes of relaxation, maybe some reading, laying your head on your pillow, lights out, bed-time. Repeat. Day after day—There is work to be done, people to see, places to go. Time flies by. Life is being lived. Marriages add years or suffer divorce. Children grow up. Seasons change. On and on one goes. It starts with kindergarten, then elementary, middle, high school, college or trade school, work, marriage, children. Grandparents are made and new seasons continue. This is life with a few vacations sprinkled in and lots of memories.
Is there more to life than this? The perpetual cycle of days adding up, birthdays and Christmas’ rolling around, and children leaving the nest to start their own nests. Of course, there is. I haven’t mentioned anything up to this point about the most important aspect of life: Knowing God. However, I know you must know what it’s like to go through the motions day after day striving to pay bills, make appointments, and keep the laundry done. There are so many all around us who are missing out on the most important thing about life. This is not uncommon, but it is detrimental to your life and all those around you. Your life is having an impact on others whether you realize it or not.
Tonight, I want us to be prepared. There are many unprepared. Jesus is returning. Will you be ready? |
