In truth, the Scriptures describe three heavens: (1) "the 3rd heaven", God's abode, (2) the "starry heaven, the universe and (3) "the earth's heaven, the sky. Each one of these uses of heaven are understood based on the Biblical context in which they are found. The 3rd heaven is typically how we use the word today, and it refers in Scripture to a literal spiritual place where God dwells. It is uncreated and will never change.
