So many of the Kings of Israel and of Judah turned away from the Lord. This cannot be said of Jehoshaphat. He was a good example not only to his own people but to us today. And what an encouragement. The whole Kingdom prospered plus the Kingdoms around Judah. Yet, while Jehoshaphat strengthened himself against his counterpart in Israel (Ahab), later in life he was enticed by Ahab to join forces and to trust in man rather than the Lord. He went wrong. This is a warning to us all. Yet when Jehoshaphat repented, the Lord heard his cry and was merciful to him.
