In these six verse we see the following: I. The Leper's Desperate Condition II. Jesus' Tender Compassion III. Jesus' Lawful Instruction and IV. The Leper's Excited Proclamation Leprosy was perhaps the worst of all diseases in ancient Israel because it not only destroyed the body but also cut its victims off from family, friends, and public worship by consigning the stricken ones to an isolated and separated existence. In compassionate response to this leper's desperate plea, Jesus completely cleansed him in an instant. This dreaded disease is also a picture of the fact that all of us are lepers spiritually, totally and helplessly corrupt from sin and our only hope is to fall before Jesus Christ and plead his mercy to cleanse and restore us.
