On October 5-7th the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors (NANC) will hold their annual conference at the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, SC.
The theme for this year's conference is "The Qualified Counselor: Competent and Dependent". Plenary speakers at the event include, Dr. Jay Adams, David Powlison, James MacDonald, Randy Patten and John Street. Additionally, there will be over sixty workshops led by a host of qualified instructors.
My guest on the program today will Randy Patten, Executive Director of the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors. We will discuss what makes biblical (or nouthetic) counseling unique and how the Scriptures relate to solving all the issues of life.
Additionally, we will discuss some of the following questions:
Who is competent to counsel? What is the connection between biblical counseling and local church ministry? Is there a difference between informal and formal counseling? What is the role of laymen in counseling? How churches can use a biblical counseling ministry to reach their community?
