In Isaiah 51:1-52:12, we witness 6 commands and an interlude demonstrating God's gracious provision of salvation to the world through his Servant. I. Listen, my people: I will comfort you! A. I'll bless you like Abraham (51:1–2). B. I'll restore you like Eden (51: 3). II. Listen, my people: I will save! A. My salvation reaches the ends of the earth (51:4–5). B. My salvation is forever (51:6). III. Listen, my people: Don't fear men! A. Because you know righteousness and my teaching is in your heart (51:7). B. Because men are temporary, but my righteousness and salvation are forever (51:8).
IV. Awake, Yahweh, awake and exercise your might! A. Save us as you did our forefathers from Egypt (51:9-1o) … B. And we will joyfully praise you (51:11). Yahweh's interlude: I comfort and deliver you, though you have forgotten me and are afraid of your oppressors (51:12-16).
