In the gospels Jesus spoke more about money than heaven and hell combined. He taught that the relationship someone has with money reveals the type of relationship they have with God for 'where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.' Jesus tells us that there is a treasure to be gained in Heaven, how is it gained? By selling what we have and giving it to the poor. Jim Elliot said '"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose." The world foolishly clings to riches which they cannot take beyond the grave, but the Christian wisely gives his riches to recieve something much greater beyond the grave. Jesus is Lord, and if we call Him 'Lord' then the decisions we make with our money will show that He is indeed Lord of our lives! He is Lord over our wallets, bank accounts, possessions and savings, meaning that He decides what we do with it, not us.
