We apologize for the poor quality of the recording of this sermon (there is a better recorded version of this sermon on 12/10/2017). This sermon was re-preached on 08/04/2019 as a help for our church to learn Psalter 119X and to memorize Psalm 119:169-176.
Psalm 119's 22nd stanza is the fitting closing to this grand Psalm--a humble prayer of desire to be able to pray, praise, persevere and fulfill God's purposes by His Word.
After this long journey with God and His Word through the valley of affliction of stanza 11 through the apex of triumph of stanza 21, the psalmist is now rightly humbled in proper reverence and fear of God and His Word, and rightly humbled about the holiness, privileges, and responsibilities of his calling. So he cries out to God for grace and strength to do it, for he cannot do it without Him. The sheep recognizes his need for the Shepherd to corral, protect, provide, and nourish him by His Word.
