Exegesis: The journey of futility may start with good intentions (vv. 11-15); may do nice deeds along the way (v. 16); is doomed, since it is not according to God's word (vv. 17-18).
Further application: Encouragement for committed churchmen: the ''narrow way'' is not easy, but it is comfort-filled; and the end of the road will demonstrate God's favorites (and His cast-offs).
