Walking by the Spirit means you are no longer dominated by fleshly deeds (vv. 19-21, 16, 24). 1. You cannot stop these works of the flesh unless Christ is your Lord and Savior. 2. As a disciple of Christ, you must take sin seriously. 3. Since we cannot reach perfection in this world, we will not completely eradicate these sinful acts. 4. These works of the flesh come from our fallen nature. The Works of the Flesh 1. These works of the flesh are evident, manifest, or obvious (v. 19). 2. The flesh can manifest itself as sexual sins (v. 19). 3. The flesh can manifest itself as religious sins (v. 20). 4. The flesh can manifest itself as relational sins (vv. 20, 21). 5. The flesh can manifest itself as drinking sins. Therefore… 1. Never let one of these sins characterize your life. 2. Know you strengthen the flesh anytime you manifest any of these works of the flesh. 3. If these things characterize your life, you will not enter into the kingdom of God (v. 21). 4. In every expression of these sins, be quick to confess and repent.
