The former king of Judah was now dead. His mother who had no business being in charge had decided to do just that and killed everyone who had a better claim to the throne than she did, all except for one little baby. This little boy was meant to be king but only if he was well guarded and cared for. Those around him were willing to do what needed to be done to insure his survival.
