Contemporary Praise Churches: Vanity Fair Contemporary praise churches are definitely what John Bunyan described as Vanity Fair in The Pilgrim's Progress. Even the conservative churches and denominations have literally become circus churches with carnal acrobatics. This sermon is a call for Bible believers to exercise sobriety in these days of circus churches.

Vanity Fair In The Churches This sermon shows why today's churches are what John Bunyan called Vanity Fair in The Pilgrim's Progress. Such a circus church shows a lack of sobriety on part of the churches. We cannot be sober minded and jump around while doing cartwheels and somersaults, especially in The Lord's House on Sunday Morning. 2 Samuel 6:14 is often used as a proof text to justify this display of carnal acrobatics and gymnastics in the contemporary churches. Remember Titus 2:1-15 in times like these. Being sober means not doing any carnal acrobatics, like what is seen in these contemporary praise churches.

Great Sermon! I remember years ago when blending Hellywood with Sunday School first started. I think it was in the late 80's. A Church of Christ member wrote a Sunday School series based on certain episodes of the Andy Griffith Show. I was a lost church member at the time and even I thought something didn't seem right about it. How far we've slid into apostasy since then.
