Since Ruth had respectfully received the general kindness of Boaz, he extends a generous invitation to her to join him in a meal with his inner circle of workers. After receiving an abundance of food, Ruth went back to work, and Boaz gave special instructions to his servants to give her preferential treatment - extra sheaves, no insults and no rebukes. When she finished that evening and took her gleanings home, Naomi was greatly impressed, explaining that the one she had worked for was a close relative and wishing Yahweh's blessing on him. Ruth had been invited to stay close through the rest of the harvest and Naomi gave her approval. Ruth submitted to the invitation from Boaz as well as the advice from Naomi.
