Vindicating Sermon! Thank you. Ever since I read John 6:35 I've been thinking that the "daily bread" part of the Lord's Prayer means Him. Otherwise explain hunger or starvation or fasting, without resorting to redundancy of the third petition, or "He doesn't love me," "He doesn't exist," or "I need more faith!" Being ungrateful for and ignorant of our own physical condition, whatever that may be, and to what extent, is axiomatic, and covered already by the fifth petition. Why would He stick in a plug for fleshly requirements in the midst of heavenly concerns? We might do such a thing, but I seriously question that He would teach us to do so - because the Gospel is of *first* importance, and if we need reminding to be thankful, that's where the emphasis should be. All else follows without much effort.
