The truth that Christ has all power and authority as seen in John's vision in Revelation 1 is meant to sustain us in our work and witness for Him. John is exiled for his witness, yet his mindset is active, courageous advancement of the Kingdom! In vv. 12-20, we read about what John saw. As he describes what the Son of Man looks like we see the power, purity, beauty, and terror of Jesus in all His glory. Yet, Jesus tells John to "Fear not!" He can say this because of the atonement He has made for His people. Death and hell belong to Him! He has the keys! In the same way, we are not to be afraid, but go forth courageously in His power as we work and bear witness for Him!
