Excellency of God. The escape from Egypt had as the first consequences the fact that the people saw God exalted above all the gods of the nations. The holiness of God consist in all the excellencies of His attributes, it is not one of them. The holiness of God presented in creation, in the giving of the Law, in redemption and in glorification.

Don't forget my friend... Don't forget my friend that the true gospel is also a proclamation of God's love towards the unlovely. It is true that without preaching God's awesome holiness and that according to the law sinners are under his wrath, we take away the need for the gospel. Yet it is ultimately God's free grace through the Lord Jesus Christ that convicts us of our sin. Think of the Pharisees who did nothing but study and preach the law. Were they convinced that they themselves were sinners? Hardly. Then Christ Jesus came into the world full of grace and truth and sinners were convicted because he showed mercy to them. The holy showing mercy to the unholy is what brings conviction and repentance. Christ the mighty Creator humbled himself and left his glory to meet our need. He gave himself on Calvary to bear the awful curse that we could not bear. And so he reaches down to lost, hellbound and underserving sinners and picks them up out of their own vomit. Yes, for he came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief! Praise be to God, for he is holy and because that is so, we can be saved from our sin by fleeing to Christ who is our perfect righteousness and hope of glory!

Great Sermon! This is true gospel preaching! The false gospel begins with man and his felt needs. The true gospel begins with God and the irrevocable demands of His Holiness! The false gospel makes God man's servant. The true gospel makes man God's servant.
The false gospel makes man comfortable in his sin, and promises to fulfill his desires.
The true gospel brings man low, makes him ashamed and fearful, and shows him he is a hideous thing in the eyes of his God -- helpless and lost without deliberate, personal, effective Divine intervention. God hasten the day when He will banish the false gospel from our pulpits, and make preaching like this the rule -- rather than the rare exception that it is today!
