It is not enough to know the answer to the shorter catechism question “What is justification?” Let us not simply boast that we know the theology of salvation.
The issue is, how does this impact on my day to day life? What difference does it make in regard to practical religion? It is an important question! Romans 12:1-3 gives us something of an answer.
Living in the light of our justification will involve:
1. A life of self sacrifice.
* the motivation for self sacrifice is the mercies of God.
* the manner of self sacrifice is 'present your bodies a living sacrifice.'
* the marvel of self sacrifice is that our offering is accepted by God on the merits of Christ.
2. A life of sanctification.
Be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
This is where the great battle rages - as a man thinketh in his heart so is he.
3. A life of service.
Living in the light of our justification will result in a life that brings glory to God and blessing to our own soul
