Last week John shared with us that Jesus really did die, he really was buried, and he really rose from the grave. This week, in John 20:10-31, we read of further proof of these matters as Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene and the disciples over a number of separate occasions. Amidst it all, there is joy, fear, peace, gladness and doubt. But above all, there is faith - they believe! And this faith gives rise to confession, praise and adoration, as Thomas expresses, "My Lord and my God!" It was for this very reason that John wrote his gospel - "that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God." But John knew, and wants his readers to know, that with this 'belief' comes life - "...and that by believing you may have life in his name." We will spend some time considering just what 'life is his name' really is. After all, this is the life given to all who believe.
