"The Christian life is often compared to the life of a soldier. Peter warns you to "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." (I Pet. 5:8) Paul tells us to, "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." (Eph. 6:11, 12) He counseled Timothy to, "endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ." (I Tim. 2:3) And he recognized that there was "…another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind…." (Rom. 7:23) It is regarding this last battlefield that the apostle instructs us in the text today. Often times, the most difficult battle is the one which is waged between our ears.
