Have you ever wondered what God's will for your life is? Through the examples of a lone leper and a persistent widow we are given the answer to that question, at least in part– to give thanks and praise to God, and to pray always and not lose heart. Jesus is quick to show mercy to the ten lepers, but only one is quick to return give thanks and praise. God is eager to give justice to his elect, speedily, but our persistence and hope in prayer are often lacking. These are timely reminders for our own day, and we should heed them well and take heart. For our Lord himself, and the Spirit pray for us, interceding for us at the right hand of the Father. He is merciful and just, and extremely patient with his children. In his love for us he makes his will known to us quite clearly– that we should 'rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you' (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
