Many people see God in the Old Testament as nothing more than a cranky bully who arbitrarily punishes people with no purpose, and the plagues are an example that could be used to support that view. But remember - each plague is a direct attack at an Egyptian false god. God doesn't purposely destroy idols; he does it to bring people into the knowledge of the Him, the true God. The tighter Pharoah holds on to his idols, the worse things become. But even in this instance, God provides grace. As we near the end of these plagues, examine yourself ask yourself if there are idols you're holding on to. If you are, know that God provides grace and gives Himself in place of that idol.
