Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Today were going to start a short series on the topic of false prophets and were going to look at Todd Bentley. Paul Tells us in Romans 16:17 to mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. Today were going to mark Todd Bentley and hopefully, you will avoid him. Who is Todd Bentley? Todd Bentley is a Canadian evangelist (if you can call him an evangelist) who is known for his hyper-charismatic theatrics and pseudo-healing revivals. Todd Bentley is known for antics like: kicking old women in the face with his biker boot, running across the stage and ramming down a man who subsequently lost his tooth, kicking men with colon cancer in the gut and getting on top of people and (literally) choking them in order to get demons out of them. Todd Bentley claims he is an apostle that God speaks to him often even though there are no obvious signs of communication with God. You would think someone who communicates with God regularly would show some kind of fruit as a result. One might object that Todd Bentley heals people. I am convinced that he has not healed a single person, but if he had, I would conclude that God is testing us through a false prophet. Deuteronomy 13:1-3 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, (2) And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; (3) |
