The very concept of homecoming can be a bit of a strange one. If one thinks about it, it has it's genesis in the very notion that people have left their home and have gone elsewhere and now they are returning home. At this time of year we are calling attention to our church building specifically and inviting those who have attended here before to come back if but for a brief visit. Whatever the case may be they have left here. Perhaps to join another church, they were never member just visited, they fell away, etc. perhaps it is not all that dissimilar to how we do God. He is not only our Heavenly Father but our home as well and He is always inviting us to come around. Some times we sit a spell, some stay in their own rooms, there are those who just come and hang out on the porch; any way it goes coming home is not just for a quick meal and hurry off. There should be just as much to it on our part as it is on His part.
