• Believers are designed to grow, not to remain as babies that cannot handle anything stronger than milk. • It is not a bad thing to be a baby, but it is wrong to remain a baby, especially in the context of the church. • How are Christians to grow from babies to maturity? Have the insatiable appetite for the Word and the presence of God that babies have for pure milk. • I Cor. 3:1-3 - Paul had to talk to the Corinthians as children instead of adults. • 'Let us go on to maturity...' • Ephesians 4 - pastor/teachers are to equip and grow the members of the church and to bring them to maturity. • This is not done by human cunning. The church of the 21st century is being ruined by pragmatism. • Church is to be a holy place, where the presence of God is, not a place for sinners to feel comfortable. If they feel comfortable at church, the church is doing something wrong. • What is maturity? To digest the meat of the Word, and to be able to teach others. • Babies can only teach other babies what a baby knows, which is not much. • Maturity is not an option- this is expected! • Philippians 3-Paul did not consider himself to 'have arrived', instead he strained forward to maturity and perfection in Christ. • God's house is not a house of babies!
