The world has seen some bizarre attempts at reaching widespread unity. One such attempt is well expressed in the following ancient poem:
"My heart has opened unto every form. It is a pasture for gazelles, a cloister for Christian monks, a temple for idols, the Ka'ba of the pilgrim, the tablets of the Torah and the book of the Quran. While many have grasped for unity between people in many ways, Scripture directs God's people along the path of true, lasting unity that truly does surprise a squabbling world. This is what God's people are called to.
