Who doesn’t want to be free? As former president George W. Bush once said in a speech before the United Nations, “this much we know with certainty: The desire for freedom resides in every human heart. And that desire cannot be contained forever by prison walls, or martial laws, or secret police. Over time, and across the Earth, freedom will find a way.”
Yet, there is a sense that we’re still not free. Slavery was one of the great evils of the world, and yet it persists today. Some are in slavery to other people; others are in slavery to their desires, addictions, and pleasures.
