The Unity School of Christianity of Unity - This Gnostic & metaphysical cultic religion was founded in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1889 by Charles Fillmore (1854–1948) and Myrtle Fillmore (1845–1931) after Mrs. Fillmore had been cured of her tuberculosis, she believed, by spiritual healing. This resulted in the Fillmores' studying spiritual healing and being influenced by Emma Curtis Hopkins and Mary Baker Eddy (the founder of Christian Science). 2. Biblical definition of Justification & Sanctification - Justification is the declaring of a person to be just or righteous. It is a legal term signifying acquittal - Romans 5:9, Romans 3:26. Sanctification - The Greek word translated "sanctification" (hagiasmos [aJgiasmov"]) means "holiness." To sanctify, therefore, means "to make holy." Human beings ultimately cannot sanctify themselves. The Triune God sanctifies. The Father sanctifies ( 1 Cor 1:30 ) by the Spirit ( 2 Thess 2:13 ; 1 Peter 1:2 ) and in the name of Christ ( 1 Cor 6:11 ). 2 Thessalonians 4:3-6. 3.
