Old Covenant Israel had a "veil" over the eyes of their heart and they could not comprehend the glory of God in the days of Moses. The Apostle Paul said this veil remained in his day and we see it exemplified when Jesus preached in the Nazareth synagogue. They welcomed him joyfully when they thought he was to be an earthly deliverer; but when Jesus refused to dazzle them with miracles they sought to kill him. A "veil" hides the glory of God from sinners today as well; and only God's grace can remove it.
