We are going to look at this autobiographical section of a loving, giving, and serving man—the Apostle Paul. He had been saved by grace through a powerful encounter with the Risen Christ. Immediately, he realized that he was saved to serve with a humble attitude, a high authority from His Majesty, and a holy ambition to please His Master- - the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a true servant of the Lord and he allowed his life to be poured out for the good of others (Phil 2:17). Christ Jesus had radically changed his life. He had been changed from a ferocious persecutor to a faithful preacher. He had been an adamant opponent of Christ and His church to an Apostle of Christ and servant of the church. The gospel that Paul preached was not man-made and was filled with miraculous power. It was centered in Christ and Him crucified and Paul would not budge from his authority or his message. He was standing on the revelation of Christ Jesus and Paul was backed by all the authority of heaven (Matthew 28:20). Paul shares three reasons why His gospel did not come from man. After Paul’s conversion, he went to Arabia, spent 15 days in Jerusalem, and went to Syria and Cilicia where he grew up, yet his gospel lined up with those in Jerusalem. “And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision” (Galatians 2:9).
